A few weeks ago a golf pal of mine offered me up a dozen HP3 Distance balls (brand new!) - he's a Pro-V loyalist and said he would never use them. Being one to never turn down a free gift, I took them. I've played them several times...I can't say I've played awful with them, but nothing about them said you've found your golf ball! Normally I play a DT-Solo, NXT or my favorite Pro-V1x. Has anyone else played these? Just curious...

I've played with the HP3 Distance ball. I would concede that it is a long ball because of its 'hardness', however you will end up sacrificing shots to the green especially with wedge shots. They go way past the hole, you don't get that drop 'n stop reaction that you would get from a ProV1. As for putting, I would say that they tend to bounce off right away the putter face. Ideal for slow greens but deadly on fast ones.  They are good to use when you are just playing a practice round.  As I've gone through the whole box now, I don't think I'll be getting another.
