I was in the market for a new pair of golf shoes and unfortunately Footjoy has discontinued the Tour X (my go-to shoe) and hasn't released the new Tour Alpha (anxiously awaited!). I was intrigued by the new Footjoy Fuel, decided to give it a try, and thought I'd provide a short review.

I really like the casual look of the shoe, with an appearance similar to the Footjoy Flex. I had tried the Flex in the past and while they are very comfortable they don't provide the lateral support in the forefoot that I need to make an aggressive post on left foot during the swing. The Flex found its place as a casual shoe and doesn't see any time on the course.

Out of the box, the new Footjoy Fuel is a good looking shoe. It retains that casual look but the leather uppers and heel design put it in the category of a serious golf shoe design and not a "running shoe" look. I was initially disappointed that the leather seemed a tad stiff when I first put it on but I kneaded the toe area a bit, wore them around the house, and they loosened up nicely.

The Fuel got their first real test today with a lengthy driving range session, and I have to say they are a serious golf shoe. They have excellent stability that supports your foot through any side loading. By the end of the session, they were fully "broken in" and I felt like I was wearing very light, comfortable sneakers. The "spikeless" sole design provided more than enough traction ... these shoes will see a lot of on course action this year. . I also like the color options. Traditionally we felt the need to get a dark pair of shoes for dark pants. The colorway options for the new Footjoy Fuel make them perfect for any "outfit" and fit in perfectly with new styles or traditional attire.

Looking for a new shoe option? I don't usually give reviews, but this one is definitely worth a try!

    Great review, thanks George.

I love the look of the Fuel's and I'm going to get myself a pair with the BOA system

George, what a great review. As a FJ Ambassador, as well as one of the Team Titleist Ambassadors, please note that Titleist and FJ are two separate divisions of Acushnet. Even though any positive remarks regarding FJ products are awesome, maybe the below site might be a better place for posts regarding FJ products and will reach a larger audience. We invite you to join up, get information and to post reviews regarding FootJoy products. Again, thanks for your post. We appreciate supporting reviews, such as yours, on new products. If the Tour X was your go to shoe, you will very happy with the Alpha. With respect, CZ

Thanks, Chuck. I'll check out that link. I'm very aware of the corporate relationship between Acushnet companies but thought my review on this site would compliment all the ongoing discussions about the new Footjoy shoe line-up, and hope our members saw some benefit. Cheers.

Great review. I’ll check them out. I would like to add a set of spikeless into the rotation for the summer
