  1. HI, I have a problem in which on the follow through I hang back on my right foot and hit very high and to

the right shots with my driver, I hit them solid but its killing me!, now for my irons, I also hang back with

those too but i seem to hit those straight actually, just a little thin, okay so I went to the driving range and worked

on getting to my left side, okay this is the important part, I tried getting the feeling of  moving my head past the ball on the

downswing and i hit the ball really really good with irons which were flush every time but when i went to the driver i still had that

high and to the right shot, my question is am I not really fixing the problem and just masking the problem or is this feeling you

want coming into to the ball? I am sorry for the long post but this bugging me to death, I have another question its important,

when you turn into the backswing do you want your whole head BEHIND the ball?  or do you just want your head to move just

enough but still stay on top of the ball? Any drills or inputs for both of these problems would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank You!

I have the same problem!!! But when I produce good shots it's like a laser. When I hit bad shots (which are more common than the good ones lately) it's either a shank or hit it fat. I need help, BAD!!

Head movement is not a good thing.

I believe the feeling you are getting is from lowering your front shoulder, which in turn makes your swing downward, a good thing for irons not for driver.

This is an example of the eyeline effect, a very overlooked part of alignment. I did recently see a clip of an instructor which briefly mentioned it.

The eyeline has a 3-D effect, the eyeline can be pointed left/right/ or at the target, that is where you will swing, it can also be pointed up down or level, this will be your approach.

If you hold your head still, during the backswing your body will naturally set to produce the swing your eyeline dictates. That is assuming you don't have some other major alignment problems.

Two simple drills to help get your body to feel that through the ball motion are: the flamingo drill and the strep-thru drill. With the flamingo, stand on your front foot and balance on this while taking three-quarter swings; any time that you fail to get through you will really notice a loss of balance or falling back. The other drill or stepping through the ball also can help you to get your weight to go through the ball.
