I have recently put a lot of practice in getting my weight over my left foot (rt handed golfer) at impact.  My ball striking has improved beyond measure to the point I now have the confidence to hit 4 & 5 irons off the deck again.  My trouble comes with the short irons (8 - Pw).  Everything I hit with these is a pull (albeit still a nice crisp strike).  I figure I may have to try & delay after shifting weight forward then dropping arms into the swing?  Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.

One thing you might one to check before trying to delay is to check your ball position. It almost sounds like your ball is positioned a slight bit forward.  If you have an alignment stick (a club works just as well), make sure that your 8-iron is near middle of stance, or this is where I prefer it, and more the rest of the clubs a slight bit further back as necessary.

  3. You are probably to forward with your shoulders as you come into the ball. As your shoulders turn just before contact it will cause a yank left. try to focus on directing the club right at the pin on follow through. this should correct the problem and kept your shoulders sqaure at impact. Good luck.

Based on what you have described, I think you have two things to consider: are you coming over the top? are you square at address? I had the same problem last year and it took a couple of sessions and the eye of my PGA instructor to identify my fault. My hips were open. I always thought and felt square at address, but unbeknownst to me, I was leaving my hips open at address. This was causing well struck balls to go left as if I was pulling the ball, but in reality I was aimed that way. If I'm going left it is always one of those two things. Make sure you're square at address and starting your downswing from the ground up (not letting you arms and hands takeover).
