Ok so I am pretty young (8th grade) and i am pretty good, I shoot 6 or 7 over alot and i was wondering if i should start considering some junior tournments....... I play with a Max Fli set and at my age does not using the best clubs around matter the most even though i still play good??

    Thanx!!

The first thing that I would consider doing is getting fitted for the best golf ball for you. Then I would ask yourself what part of your game is costing you the most strokes and try to focus on this. At your age, I would not want to see you go out and purchase the best possible stuff and then out grow it. One idea might be to look for a good quality used set that is of higher caliber; this will save you money since you'll have to get new stuff down the line and technology is changing every year.

  3. Jake congrats on your initial success! I would suggest stepping up the difficulty of your course(s) and moving farther back with tee boxes at the moment. I believe technology can help but you need more lessons most likely togroove your swing &touch around the greens. You can slowly add in a new piece of equipment like higher end balls, wedges, putter, driver etc.... Over time as your family budget allows.

If you are looking for a better set of clubs by all means I agree with Gaetan, look for a quality used set and have it cut down if need be for you.

    Hi jake,

I am also in 8th grade and my average score is 77 on a par 72 course. I just recently bought some ap1 710 irons and that dropped my average by 4 strokes from 81 to 77. I think that playing with a maxfli set will cause a higher average. what maxfli set do you play with and how tall are you. If you are 5' 3" or taller you should start considering full sized mens clubs. I am 5' 4" and play full sized clubs. you should ask your pro to get fit and if you need to have your clubs bent so they lay flat after you get new ones.

    Happy to help.

    Nate
