Does anyone have any drills for hitting more greens in regulation? As of recently, I have improved my FIR % from 55% to 75%. This was mainly from not hitting driver as much and taking a 3wood or 3iron off the tee as necessary. My problem is that as I have increased my FIR%, my GIR has dropped from 62% to 30%. Luckily, so far, my scores haven't really been effected; maybe only a stroke or two to my scores but not much.  I know part of my problem is being too aggressive at times and trying to attack tucked pins, but when they are sitting wide open, I can't hit the broad-side of the barn. And this problem is from wedge to 5iron (100yds to 225yds). Any drills or tips would be appreciated.

  2. FWIW, I would focus on hitting your driver better AND placing your shots in the fairway. The shorter the iron on your approach to the green will obviously allow you to be closer to the pin more frequently thus increasing your GIR's....IMHO

There isnt any drills that will teach you how to hit more GIR. GIR result from hitting better irons and the only way to hit better irons is to hit quality shots on the range. It might be time to schedule a lesson with an instructor. They will address your needs and give you the drills you need to hit better irons. Hope that helps.

You have a good start by hitting fairways more consistently. Try playing a round where you don't even pay attention to any of the flags and just hit towards the center of the green. You will be amazed by how well you do. You will start to string pars together in a heartbeat.
