Hello all I am 15 and play all the time but last week there was 60 mph wind that I had to play in and it was really challenging almost like playing on a different planet. I still shot 75 but I could have done a lot better I did all of the average stuff like play it back in your stance and tee it low but the wind still took my ball every time. Any tips?????? Thanks guys

60mph wind, not much you can do.

For winds that are manageable, playing the ball back in your stance isn't a good idea, you put more spin on the ball.

The way to play in the wind is swing easier and use a longer club, accept that you are going to lose distance.

Swinging easier and using a longer club reduces the spin and keeps the ball lower.

    hey Joe,

You shot 75 in a heavy wind, I think you can give us some tips!  Good round!

The other tip I have learned over the years for playing in the wind is to take more club, sometimes even 2 or 3 more clubs than you need, choke down - the ball will flyer much lower and be able to bore through the wind . . . hopefully.

great man!  I was practicing some of these shots today too - hitting to a target about 130 yrds away with an 8 iron, choked down on it and made an easy, but crisp, 3/4 swing - I love that shot.

cool, yea it takes some getting use to but it is also really good for checking up a wedge shot
