Hello Team Titleist, I live in the Netherlands, and right now its winter. the courses are closed because of the snow, and if they are open, there are wintergreens and the ground is very hard which is very annoying. I was wondering whether you practise in these times or not, and if, how, hitting balls or hitting the gym. Thanks.

I practice an exercise routine; treadmill, sit-ups and stretches, and the medicine ball. Then a few minutes putting a few times each week

Best way to hit the ball further according to an article I read in a golf magazine is get stronger. Taking lessons, playing more, practice more all were rated behind building strength. This has been a poor winter for playing golf here in the South due to to cold, wet, windy weather. I have been hitting the gym three times a week and walk a couple of miles 5 days a week. Been spending a lot of time on stretching and building up the core muscles. On the rare occasion when weather permits I have seen a little more distance on the range or on the course.Ken C has got the right idea.

Training and exercising for golf specifically is a hot topic right now and will grow into the future. Many players are finding that stability, mobility, and flexibility of the proper joints is crucial and working on these areas helps trememdously in transferring power to the golf ball via an efficient golf swing. For training purposes, you will want to focus on rotary power, posture, and core stabilization. I highly suggest looking into a "BOSU" ball which is essentially a medicine ball cut in half with a platform on the flat side. You can use this BOSU ball dome up or dome down and it will dramatically enhance your balance and core strength. Another good training device is TRX suspension training. If you have any further questions on training specifically for golf feel free to email me at TahoePeaks@gmail.com Cheers! Scott McRae
