As a golfer living in Canada, my golf courses are covered in snow half the year.  Other than going to the indoor range, what can I do around my house to keep the game fresh over the winter?  I work on my putting stroke, but a carpet is drastically different than grass and I don't want to become used to the pase of carpet.  I also do some chipping, but that too is limited within a house.  Just wondering what kind of things you guys do over the winter to keep your game fresh.

Depending on the carpet, it really is not that bad of a thing to putt on in my opinion. I'm lucky and the current living situation I have allows me to putt on carpet that is smooth and on the quicker side. If you have bad carpet, there are a lot of putting mats that you can buy to work on those important 3-12 foot putts, and these mats work well on hard floors. A simple thing to do is to just keep swinging; muscle memory is so important, just keep going through the motions. Other than that, there really isn't too much you can do besides taking drastic measures. Hope this helps.

I actually find it helpful to place two driveway markers on the basement floor and practice my alignment. I also bought an inexpensive ful length mirror, mounted it in the basement and using an erasable marker, practice maintaining my spine angle and club plane. I video my swing and do some analysis using an iPhone app and lastly, I do several exercises to strengthen my core and enhance my rotational ability.

Let me know what you think...

I agree with what you stated completely. There are some good concepts and ideas in there. One thing to also do when working with the mirror and video is to visualize the shot you are hitting.

Put on your tuke, go outside, and swing the club.  Logging 100 swings a day, even in the snow, will keep your muscles fresh and active.  Make sure you make a full turn both ways.  You can also practice your address, stance, grip etc in the house.  Of course putting and chipping on the carpet will pay dividends come spring as well.
