Hi, I'm needing help with getting back spin on my shorter shots like 9 iron and in and what I've been doin is putting the ball in the back of my stance and snap my wrists at Impact but that just isn't doing it. Now, I need this because I always land the ball close to the hole but they then roll over and off the green. Please reply. Thanks.

The 2 keys instead of snapping the wrists is a little steeper swing angle with ball compression before contacting the grass or soil and if it doesn't mess up your swing add some outside to inside coming through the ball.  If you've ever added "English" to a tennis shot, the effect is similar.  When you see the pros taking a huge divot on their short irons/wedges, it is all after the club strikes the ball.  Both keys are to add back spin to get the ball to check up on landing.   Also landing on an uphill will respond better.  Landing on a downhill lie will often allow the ball to release so grade your response on level to uphill landing areas.

Better balls/tour quality urethane balls (ProV1/ProV1X) will also generate higher back spin to check better.  If your current ball is not a urethane ball, you may wnat to try one to compare to your current ball.  Lastly, if getting enough spin is still an issue, playing the ball a little forward will increase loft, and the sharper the descent the less rollout you will get.  And lastly, set your target to be the front of the green instead of the center.  Especially if you live in an area with excess heat and drought.  If the ball bounces high on a hard green, it will be hard to check.

Go up a club and swing easy.

If you are using the cheapest model ball of a cheap brand , especially if anywhere on the ball or box it says "distance" then you need to learn to bounce the ball onto the green.

Using NXT(low spin, 2 piece, ionomer cover) it rolled out a bit too far. So I opened my stance a little, opened the clubface a little, and swung at the target, the ball would stop very close to where it hit the green.

Snapping your wrists is a no-no.

Agree on snapping wrists.  Too many people try to get "fancy" with chip and pitch shots.

I have good success with cut shots.

I use  the dt solo and get plenty of backspin. With wedges and short irons, swing on a steeper swing path and accelerate on the downswing.
