I have a really high ball flight and it really hurts my game during windy conditions. I would really love to lower my ball flight for longer shots and more control. What can I do?

"When it's breezy, swing easy" Swing maybe 75 percent as hard as you usually do, on a windy day. If you can't get your shot a little bit lower, always just play with the wind. If it wants to push your ball off right, just aim a little bit more left.

Works fine and lasts a long time. Practice choked full swing shots. Also practice pitching with EVERY club (you can pitch a 5 wood or 7 wood; I've saved par by chipping under a tree with a 7 wood). Let's say you hit a PW about 100-110 yards; try pitching a 7 iron if it is windy or take a half swing pitch with a 27 hybrid. Think about working the driver also on the longer par 3s (above 175 or 180) - practice half swing shots with a driver.

You can do a couple things play your ball back in your stance if you just want lower ball flight in a hole but if you want permanent lower ball flight recommend changing out to a different shaft

shorten your swing a bit. you can start by choking up on the club a bit which makes the swing arc shorter and on the follow through keep your hands low. its tough to do but with practice it will stay low. and don't swing hard either, the harder you swing, the harder it is to keep your hands low. you don't have to put the ball all the way in the back if your stance either. just 3 or 4 inches from your normal address.

JOIN THE CLUB MY DRIVER IS 7.75 AND I STILL HIT IT HIGHER THAN EVERYBODY ELSE AT MY CLUB. LOOK FOR THE SHAFT. SHAFT DETERMINES EVERYTHING. STAND CLOSER HIT MORE DOWN ON IT. WHEN IT'S WINDY HIT PUNCH SHOTS THEY CAN GO REALLY LOW THEY HAVE HELPED ME A LOT IN THE PAST :)

Hi Jayme
All good tips here so far. Get on the range on a windy day. Pick out a target (lets say 150yds). Hit your regular 150 club for awhile. If it's high, take one club stronger at about 80 per cent swing speed, and hit to the same target. This will give you a lower trajectory. Knock down shots in windy conditions have become a lost art these days. This is a great tool to use for different lies in the fairway. A 150 yd downhill or uphill lie requires different club selection to control distance and trajectories. It takes practice, practice, and more practice.
Good Luck

Check out what kind of shaft you are hitting. The shaft could be either too much spin, or too much launch. If the shaft isn't the problem, it is a mechanics problem. If that is the case, go see a pro, and get a couple lessons on hitting it low!

its not the clubs......its the swing.....the clubs can only do so much.....especially for amateurs
