Anyone out there have a suggestion on why I cannot align my wedge shots correctly?

Irons, Metals, Putters, Chipping, Punch Shots, etc are all fine. In fact they are right on the money in terms of alignment. However for whatever a reason, my 56 degree I just cannot figure out. It is custom made, bent and built to my specifications. I hit it well. But it goes right, and, I do not mean a slice. I mean it has a good flight path. it is just off target to the right, by quite a bit when in terms of being so close.

    Any thoughts/suggestions would be great.

    Thanks.

Make sure you are playing the sand wedge with an open stance ( feet aimed left of target for righty ) no matter how far you are out. The more clubs you go down starting with the driver with a slightly closed stance going to a sand wedge with the most open stance. Hope this helps!

Hard to tell without seeing you swing, but a good thing to try first is adjusting ball position.  Just move it around and see if any changes help bring it back on target.

  4. When you go up to the stance try over correcting the stance.  Move your follow through to the left when you are coming down and after striking the ball.  Also I have learned that by getting closer to the ball and closing the gap in between my legs helps keep a more straight trajectory towards the target.

Take all your wedges to a club fitter that can bend them while you are at the range.

Sounds to me like you need loft & lie tune up.

I have all my wedges' lie angles bent to match club lengths (most people leave them the same as the PW).   My SW (54) is 1/2* upright and my lob and X wedge are 1* upright.

With a full swing on a wedge, I play it like any other short iron shot - ball in the center and not too wide of a stance.

I open the stance on pitches and adjust ball position depending on the type of lie.  One thing you don't want to do is turn the club over after impact; otherwise you pull it.

The key thing with an open stance is to swing along the target line.  If you swing along your footpath it becomes a cut shot and the open clubface at impact causes the ball to go straight but right.

Also, for me, I only carry 8-PW, 54,60 and 64 for irons so all them are treated like wedges.   I use a 910H 27* and SQ 6-30 hybrid in place of the 5-7 irons.  I even practice pitch shots with the two hybrids and my 19F; nice to have in the arsenal for playing into the wind.

    Thanks.

This helping a lot. The open stance and placing the ball in the middle of the stance rather than the back of my stance. Thanks guys! Huge help.
