Should a beginner use a Pro V1?
Team TitleistFairhaven, MA
If the Pro V1 is the right ball for a beginner's game, then yes, it may be the right golf ball. Please check out the new Titleist Ball Fitting section on titleist.com/ballfitting.

No a beginner should maybe try a dt solo or something like that just to get started and if becomes good enough then use pro v1
Chris LNorcross, GA
if the beginner is wealthy and don't mind spending a lot of money... :P

To tell you the truth personally I used Pro V1 balls when i first started and i think it helped me close in on closeing the 100 gap faster.

If the beginner has started with the short game then I think the Pro V1 will be beneficial because the player will engrave his or her feel with the ball earlier. I recently tried out the Bridgestone B330-s and the feel threw me off and where I normally score around the high 70's I shot 85 thanks to chipping the ball too far and not being able to sink routine 10 footers.

YOU SINK ROUTINE 10 FOOTERS???
BLESS YOU MY MAN, IF IT"S THE BALL I'LL TAKE A GROSS OF THOSE.

It really depends on your swing speed and how much speed you generate. You may want to hold off on the blacks for a while and hit something from the DT line. They're cheaper and better suited for beginning/amateur swing speeds.
I also agree with the person who said, "yes, if you're starting with short game." If you don't think you're going to be playing a lot of rounds, but are going to be chipping and putting a lot, then go with the more expensive ball because you're probably not going to lose them. They'll be more responsive while you chip and they will make a difference in your game later on.
Haha. I need some of those too. :)

Yah if your rich because when you start your going to be a ball eating machine

I did not start with the Pro V1 i guesss it just depends on how you really hit the ball. If You feel that as a beginner you hit well enough then maybe you go get ball fit but it is very imprbable for a Club or PGA Proffesional to recomend a Pro V1 to someone who is starting the game of golf

One word NO the spin is great around the greens but will kill the beginner off the tee use an inexpensive ball to start unless u hit straight but if you slice or hook badly use a distance ball say a pinnacle as its also made by titleist as far as I know

i started golfing when i was 6, I an 13 now and have a 25 handicap. I play the 2010 ap2, titaniem metals, and cleveland wedges, and an odessy 2-ball putter. up until i was 12 i played whatever i found walking the golf course, when i started getting more serious and started playing prov1's it all changed. i got better feel, feedback and control, pus a little extra distance. I would definatly reccomend the prov1 or prov1x , but you will never go back to your old ball.

like team titleist said check the golf ball fitting first. i use two diffent balls pro v1x for tourniment and pre tourniment golf. durring winter and off season i'll use a cheaper ball incase im playing a course i dont know that has alot of hazerds or blind shots incase i make a mistake. my home course has alot of tree lines that ar thick so if i go ob that ball is deffinetly gone. come courses i play have alot of water around greens and at the 280yard area to deter the long hitters like my self. since im not rich i uses a lower priced ball for rounds that im just working on swing mecanichs and course familierization. unless im playing a very nice course. but average public courses nxt tour is my second ball of choice.

no a beginner should start with cheap balls and save the pro v1 for when they get better.

You should use a less expensive Titleist ball off the tee or over water. Save those nice Pro V1s for inside 100 yds and on the green where you can develop your shots and not lose balls. You can acquire some used Titleists or X outs for tee balls. Don't wait to become a loyalist until when you become a better player, start off with the #1 ball in golf.

I agree with team titleist that you should use the ball fitting tool to see if PROV1 is the right ball for you. I used it and was told nxt tour was the better ball for me. I love the NXT TOUR and will be using it for a long time. My handicap has dropped to an 18 with the combination of the new balls and the new AP-1's I got about 2 weeks ago.

Prov1's are a advanced golf ball but i used the prov1's when i was just starting because i liked the feel. So personally i believe it's all about the players feel.
I used the Prov1 when i first started because i loved the feel, so its all about how the ball feels to you

I have been playing for 30+ yrs. I started playing only the Titleist wound balata when it was the best. Then I went to the replacement, the black Titleist professional because I considered it the best. Now I play the Pro V because it is the best (in my option ). What could be wrong with playing with the best ball. I think they all helped my game.
