I just recently encountered a new swing flaw, the lateral shift AKA the dreaded sway.  It has quickly turned into the "S" word, (hosel rocket) My pro has basically told me "Stop swaying off the ball, start with your shoulders." This isn't enough for me, I need more.  It isn't grip, that part checks out.  I'm a 7 Handicap, and have played around there for a few years and have never had this problem before. Please Help Somebody!

The best advise to stop swaying and start turning is to put your feet together and swing a club. This will force you to turn instead of swaying . If you sway you will lose your balance when doing this derill !

Bingo!  This was the drill I was thinking of.  It will force you to turn your shoulders and swing in tempo.  Do this with a 7 iron and focus on smooth contact and a good even tempo.  You should be hitting the ball just about as far, and you should be able to hold your finish at the end.

Another drill is to point your left foot to the target in an exagerated manner.  It's impossible to sway.  As soon as you get that "feel" your sways should be gone.

Have not heard that one before.

    I'll try it.

    Thanks.

If no drill works for you there is a tool that is fairly expensive but it causes you to load properly and stop swaying the website for the training aid is http://pivotpro.net/
