Question..when looking at the ball before your shot, do you focus on the back of the ball, top of the ball or front of ball? I'm just curious to hear everyone's thoughts.  I don't think I've ever head of anyone talk about this part of every shot in the routine.

Depends on the club, with the putter I focus in front of the ball, with irons a blade of grass behind the ball, with woods, the mid back of the ball.

Frank, thanks for the info! I've always different ideas but, yours makes the most sense to provide a better opportunity for solid contact from all positions.

I agree with the before post to an extent. Putting and driving I look on the right side of the ball.  However, when hitting just about any iron in my bag (4-pw, 56 and 60 deg) I look either just in front of the ball or on the left side of the ball. Reason being is because I am a digger and believe in ball first contact for better results. I do it as a reminder now that I want to make solid contact first then continue through with my divot.  I use to be a picker in which I would look right behind the ball or on the right side of the ball. I hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks! I posted this same question on the FootJoy Community, as well as, all your ideas.  The consensus there was behind the ball on irons, top of the ball (using the Titleist alignment marks like you would for putting) for driving and front of the ball for putting.

I encourage all of you to join the FootJoy Community.  Great golfers in there as welll..here's the link

Thanks again for all of these tips..there has been several discussions on the FootJoy page about this very subject.
