So I know i have heard time after time that short irons a half ball off middle, middle irons center of the stance and longer irons just in ahead of middle... Does anyone have a good trick for making sure that is captured each time u address the ball??  I have tried using the buttons on my shirt but at times when i look down the position feels a little uncomfortable (this mostly with 3-6iron).  I feel like i play the ball too far back, but my impact, divots , ball flight and distance are all fine.  I am trying to keep my brain out of the way, but would love a tip on what others may do.

    Thanks

sounds like your doing everything right. If ain't broke, don't fix it.  But an unfortunate truth about golf, is that if it's uncomfortable, you're probably doing it right. ;)  Especially on something new.  Once this is in your belief systems that feeling becomes familiar, and over time, comfortable.

Mark the ball position in relation to the front foot. The front foot marks how far forward your weight will go.

As the club gets shorter you bring your back foot closer to the front foot.

Suppose you move your back foot forward 6 inches, you have effectively moved the ball back 3 inches(by moving your upper body forward 3 inches), but it is still at the same position in relation to your front foot.
