    Hey guys,

I am wanting to fix a problem that I have been having, or problems for that matter. Ball striking for me right now is around a C+, sometimes B- but I am wanting to find something to help me create a more consistent and stable swing. I have looked at a couple of my videos and it seems like I am flipping and maybe swaying instead of getting a good shoulder turn and getting my hands deep, then creating lag. When I try to hit down on the ball, there are times where it feels like I am stabbing the ground instead creating a good divot and then there are times... when I top the ball even with my driver its happened and I hate it. I have been able to make good contact with my irons and my divots are ahead of the ball which is what I am trying to achieve, but consistently. Should I try and move through the ball instead of driving up? I feel like that is what I am doing at times.

Any drills you guys know of to get me on the right path?

The simplest answer is to visit your local teaching pro.  That said, generally if you are hitting your irons okay but not your driver it could be one or all of the following:  1. swaying off the ball on your take away,  2. take away is to fast,  3. tendency to look up instead of at the ball,  4. overswinging,  5. bending left arm instead of turning on take away,  generally go back to the basics.

I know that when I have problems I find that it is caused by one of the above.  The most frequent causes are takeaway is to fast , or bent left arm or looking up.

I'm not a pro just a duffer like you, I hope this helps.

There could be some flexibility issues affecting your swing so I would highly recommend a visit to your local TPI Certified Pro.  Mytpi.com has a find the expert section for your area.

Dave Phillips, head instructor at our Titleist Performance Institute put together the following drills for use with shafts, but it will work great with dowel rods or alignment sticks. These tips originally appeared on Golf.com.
