The sole of the clubs will show wear no matter what you do. That is the part of the club that takes the brunt of the contact with the ground. It's just part of the process of going from a new club to a gamer. Think of them as battle scars to remind you of those great strikes down the fairway.

Something that has worked for me is to use the range mat to remove the range mat's marks. Rub the area with mat mark across the direction of the mark, against the range mat surface. It will probably take a bit of effort but not enough to break a shaft. If necessary, grip the lower part of the shaft, nearer the head, while focusing the friction on the desired part of the sole of the club. You could try an indoor/outdoor or low pile carpet (NOT your shag carpet in the house!).

after cleaning with soap and water, wipe dry, spray a little wd-40 and wipe it with clean cloth, might take a little effort, but the product does wonders for a lot a things for me.
