The biggest problem in my game is that I have an enormous fade on all of my driver, wood, and hybrid shot. I'm a lefty golfer and I will hit a ball over the right side of the fairway and it will travel all the way to the left and into the trees! Can anybody give me the best tip for getting rid of a fade???

A couple of things that I have learned to correct my "power fade" are:

    1. Make sure you don't change your spine angle

    2. Release your hands through the shot, it should feel like your left hand is rolling over your right

    3. Be cautious of where your club is coming from on your downswing. A good tip is to take your practice swings and focus on a point on the tee box or range and make sure your club isn't coming outside to in and maybe exaggerate coming inside to out more and see if you can hook the ball, then you'll have to find that middle ground and use the other two and see what you get.

Worked for me, I hit 10/14 fairways Sunday compared to about 5!, and when I missed the furthest I missed was ten yards right. I made some progress and it is just understanding what your ball flight is and how to correct it by doing some of these things and trying things on your own or other tips from others on the board!

    Good luck!

Take your right foot back like an open baseball stance and when you swing let your hands get through

Michel Breed did a 30 second comercial about this on the Golf fix a while back. use a marker and draw a line on your ball place it on the tee with the line inside the center of the ball impact area about an 1/8 of an inch focuse on hitting this mark with your driver and if your doing it right the mark will transfer to the club face.  What your actually trying to do when your performing this is flatening out your swing plane of your driver. And yes it wont feel natural at first couse your natural swing is an outside to in swing. also place the ball alittle further back in your set up then normal this will also help you to try to get the club inside to out faster.

Swing thought when your swinging remember the club swings on an arc so you dont have to try to swing the club down the "straight line" you aim with. when you look at your club coming threw the impact zone. look for a curved path if your looking at if from the top down. it it should look like its coming inside to out alittle. Here is some really bad art i did on paint but i think you'll get the idea. if you need more thoughts on this let me know i think i can make some stick figure drawings to show club positions in the swing or you can just watch the jim mclean 8 step swing on youtube.

green is feet. orange is the alignmet of you and your target line. the black is the path the club head should fallow. the point is to show the club head should come from inside your target line. Purple is the ball

just a ruff drawing looking down the traget line "orange" golfer is black and ball is red and a ruff swing path example.

Hey guys i look forward to all the great coments about my picaso i just painted.

I think they call that a slice!  If you're slicing you're probably coming from outside to in and cutting across the ball.  There's lots of drills for this.  The best advise I could think of is get a lesson.  If you don't want to get a lesson, look up some drills, and play with you stance, grip, alignment etc.

A decent session on the range can band-aid the problem, but a lesson will get you on the right track for losing that slice permanently. Good luck!

    1. you  appear to have an out to in swing.  Try keeping your left elbow close to your side, take a slow backswing, keep your eye on the ball and attempt to hit the right rear inside of the ball.

    2. Try moving your hands into a strong grip, this means placing your hands more to the left( it is called the hook grip). Believe it or not this could be the simplist solution.

    3.  Contributing causes  are  : swinging to hard, picking your head up(peaking), comming over the top.

Also, the more you play a slice(fade) or hook by aiming farther to  the right or left the greater the slice or hook.

Suggest taking lessons  or if you play with a individual who has a good game, ask him to watch you during a round and advise you.

I played a power fade growing up and thought I needed to get rid of it as well.  DON'T DO IT!!!!  I hurt my game for 10yrs working on a swing that produced a draw.  I'm now back to hitting a fade as my go to shot and my game is coming back strong......If you can elimiate one side of the golf course you can get it around pretty well in most cases....good luck....

well i had a fade for a good wile and now i am hitting the ball straight. You might not be turning your hips or you are swinging too upright try to use those hips and swing flatter. my golf instructer told me to put a hybrid headcover under my right armpit. if you are right handed if you are left put it under you left armpit if you are left handed.good luck with youre swing.
