Well I have played everyday for about 8 days straight that does not include a couple visits to the range. I have found that something similar happens when I practice too much in other things, such as guitar. There is an increase in skill and ability, and after so much practice the curve falls off. By that I mean that I begin to play horribly and far under my skill level after about 4 straight days of golf, I go from shooting low 80s to a 96 yesterday at the same course I shot an 81, 5 days before. This same thing happens when I play guitar for too long, I begin to not be able to hit notes and chords on time and I just get fatigued and it seems I dont know how to play guitar at all.

BUT, here is the happy ending to the story. When you rest from what ever you are doing so much that it fatigues you, when you come back to it, you are better than you ever were. At least I am hoping that that is the case. I will not play for three days and see what happens.

The point of this post is to point out that you can practice too much. If you are playing so much and you are not seeing any improvement, just rest for a while and come back to it. Then you will see the improvement from your hard work.

Anyone else experience this as well?

Right now I'm just trying to knock the rust off and play as much as I can.  I find that the short games goes first, and my tempo is screwed up.  What I really need is a grass range were I can get my ball position dialed in, and find the bottom of my swing again.  You can only do so much off the mats.

I do agree with you about too much practice.  Especially with golf-  If you have too much going on in between your ears you tend to hit a poor shot.

Sounds like you just wore yourself out playing so much.  I have done it int he past, and taken days off to recover, and was killing it when i returned.  So take some time off, get a massage, drink some ice tea (or whatever you like), and relax.  Then go back and hit it down the pipes and have fun.
