I am a pretty solid golfer, 13 years old, 6 handicap. But the shot I always struggle with is the short wedge (30 to 50 yards) from a tight lie especially with a short pin. Right now I just take a 56 degree and play it about centre in my stance and usually make ok contact and hit a sort-of low shot but i don't know how the ball will react. Usually it releases but sometimes it checks. What is everyone's strategies? Do you take a divot or pick it clean? Would you use a different club? Hit it higher, lower? Suggestions for the short pin shot?

Stand lightly closer to the ball so that the heel is off the ground the low bounce, toe side of the wedge is the only part makeing turf contact.  Open the face slightly and play a nice soft fade in to those short sided pins.

Ok, thanks. For the longer shots would you play it high or low? More spin or less spin?

This is more of a short sided, less than 30 yards type of shot.  Max spin and trajectory. Further out we can go with a little more shaft lean to decrease bounce. Go practice and let us know!  :)

A tight lie is something you should be looking forward to, this is actually the perfect lie, perfectly clean contact.

The reason the tight lie shouldn't bother you is because you are supposed to hit the ball first, if the tight lie causes you to hit the ground first, then you are doing it wrong.

Most likely you are trying to slide the club underneath the ball and the bounce hits the ground first, don't do that.

Find yourself a tight lie and practice hitting the ball first.

You use a ProV1, you are missing out on its abilities.
