I took this picture while my daughter was being fit for her AP1 irons. It was truly a lucky shot due to the delay on my Blackberry. However, check out the shaft on that club! She has a tendency to cast and try to throw the club head at the ball rather than letting the club follow her hands. Anyone have any good tips for a 15 year old that will help her feel the proper release of the club?

    Thanks,

    Bill

Bill, yes her wrists show some "casting," however the shaft bending is from the camera. No ones shaft flexes that much. Get her to learn how to hit a chip and run shot with an 8 iron where she can keep her hands in front of the clubhead to produce a low running shot. Once she can do that work her swing up, bigger. Check to make sure her clubface is not in an open position during her swing. That is the leading cause of casting.

The picture is definitely showing you the affect of shutter speed! The shaft doesn't bend this much, but she is casting. The best case scenario is to find a TPI Certified at http://www.mytpi.com/find and figure out the root cause. Typically it's a lower body issue.
