  1. HI, I was wondering how you create more torque in your swing to get more power? any drills would help, thanks

  2. Make a full shoulder turn going back while restricting the hip turn, and on the way down as you open the hips, hold the shoulders back just a second before letting them go. See the July issue of GOLF magazine and the article on Mark Wilson. Or go to Golf.com/accelerate.

Revolution Golf (also has a Facebook page) has a good tip about torque: if you are doing it right, you will have difficulty talking at the top of your backswing. The easiest way to restrict the hip turn is minimal weight shift from the front foot on the backswing ("stack n tilt" or PPGS "in da mitt and tru da tree").

    stretching exercises

In the golf swing, feeling the tension in your sides is actually a bad thing. But "creating torque" makes it sound like it is a good thing.

When you put this tension in the muscles, you lose power and control.

Test for yourself, turn your shoulder to the point where you first feel the stretch, then turn your hips to complete the 90*, hit the ball. Now turn your shoulders as far as possible without your hips, hit the ball.

stretch stretch stretch then the farther you can turn your shoulders without feeling the stretch the more power you will get without losing control.
