I am constantly having trouble hitting my fairway woods from the fairway. My tendency is to chunk it and I just never seem to make good contact. My fairway woods are the reason why my scores are high. Please help.

If you are chunking you are most likely coming down on the ball from a steep angle.  Try sweeping the ball more.  Are you trying to swing extra hard?  I notice I chunk it if I'm trying to hit it hard.  When I relax and just let the club do the work the result is much better.

Will- when I'm teaching I like to start at the feet and work my way up....If it were me I would be sure I kept the same amount of flex in my right knee as when I was at address during the backswing. Good luck! Wildy

I got this from Loreana Ochoa in Golf Digest...............drag your FW's back low and slow so you can"hear" the grass;  do not have a too steep take away...........then try to also follow through low to the ground for about 12 to 14 inches and then follow through with your normal swing follow through(try and not pick the ball up...enough loft on the club)  I only carry a #4 wood and am playing it about 2-3 inches inside front heal.  This tip has really improved my fairway woods.  Just try to sweep instead of "pinching"

i agree with Justin U, you're probably trying to kill the ball. Take your normal swing but relize that the FW is not an iron and that you don't have to stand any closer to the ball than normal. Take a nice smooth swing at the ball don't try to kill it or take a huge divot. It's just like a driver really played with slightly wider stance and just let the club do the work. My long clubs are the best in my bag because they are all full swing clubs i tend to not get as technical or artsy with them i just hit the ball.
