After caddying for my wife at the USGA Women's Mid-Am Q in the morning, we decided to head over to Pinehurst to try to get a late 18 holes in on a very hot Saturday. We were fortunate to get on Pinehurst #1 with very few other players on the course. I started out with three straight bogies as I was quite tired from my caddy duties. Something suddenly clicked and I just missed an eagle putt on the first par 5 and tapped in for an easy birdie. I reeled off a few more pars and then arrived at the short par 3 #9. At 144 yards it wasn't intimidating, but there was a slight breeze into and the ball didn't seem to be travelling as far as normal. I clubbed up to an 8i and made solid contact with a slight draw. The ball landed and looked like it was hanging on the edge. I asked my wife how far away it was as my vision isn't great from distance. I no more than got the question out and the ball disappeared. Boom!! Ace #3 for me on a great course!! Pro V1 hit with my T100s 8i.
