I've been golfing off and on (3-4 outings/yr.) for 40+ years, but retired 5 years ago and started golfing weekly, and this past year twice a week. Couldn't believe on the last day out I would make a hole in-one! 10/19/23
Rothlands, Gold course hole #7 is the hardest on the 3 9-hole course, 147 yd this day. It has water in front of it green with about 10-15 yds of grass before the green. On this date the pin was also to the front of the green, meaning you only had about 25 yds after the water to the pin. I thought let's just hit to the middle of the green and get on, so I pulled out a 21-degree hybrid that usually get me 140 in the air to 160 after roll, and an old Titleist ball I would mind losing. I didn't want to much roll, so I choked up on the club and took an easy swing. As we were watching it, I thought it was going to hit the water. but it was on a pretty good line to the pin. Probably the best line I've had on this hole ever. It didn't hit the water, it bounced a couple of time on the grass hitting first just past the water by a yard or so then on to the green and rolled to the pin. At first could tell if it went in or if it rolled to behind the pin and we couldn't see it. My two players with me had hit into the water, and a single came up behind us, so we told him to play through but watch out for my ball probably behind the pin. As he was up there, he looked around and shrugged his shoulders, then pointed to the hole. Couldn't believe it, my First Hole in One!!
