Was on a golf trip with my buddies in St Simons Island. It was our final day and we were playing a tournament against each other that we do every year. We played the back 9 first and I was playing lights out. We turned to the back nine (hole 1) and when we got to hole 3 I was feeling confident and ran up after hearing the yardage to be the first one to tee off and said, "Guys, this one is going in." They all laughed and said yeah, sure it will.
I hit my 8 iron with no practice, just walked up, set, hit. Purest iron strike of my life. The hole was 180 yards tucked back behind 2 trees over water. Bunker front left and right, the pin was back middle. As soon as I hit it I said, "No, guys...this really might go in." I just felt it.
It faded off the left bunker gently, peaked, hit about 2 feet left of the pin, 8 feet short, and time slowed down. It just kept getting closer and closer like the hole had a magnet in it. We were all crouched down waiting, watching, and it finally disappeared. We all gasped and just kept saying no...no...no. The ranger drove by as it was rolling in - slammed on his brakes - ran up and screamed "IT'S IN!!!"
I threw my club up in the air and we all started screaming, running in circles. Our other 4some was right behind us on the green overlooking the tee box and they sprinted up to see what was happening. It was a feeling I truly can't explain to hit my first hole in one on the guys golf trip with some of my best friends - playing my favorite ball - Titleist Pro V1x.
