Playing a 4 man scramble. Came up to Hole #5 which was 195 into a slight breeze. A dreaded par 3 that seems to always be the talk after a 4 man scramble. Buddies always saying the par 3’s cost us winning. Hit a 6 iron to watch the ball take a pin seeking path. We hear a thump sound and the ball disappears. We assume it caught a sprinkler head and shot and we can’t see it even through the range finder. Buddies say go take a look. Start walking up with no ball in sight. I get about 20 yards from the green and ask one of the spotters to check the hole as it’s a prize hole. They lean over to check the hole and as soon as their head raises- fireworks went off in my head. Slam Dunk- first hole in one! Cloud 9 immediately set in.
