June 20th, 2024 at an scramble event, after a slow start to the round, we stepped up to a 186 yard par 3. 186 yards, water short and to the left, bunker guarding the left side of the green with a pin tucked left and down off a ridge from the right side of green. None of our team were much for power hitters and hitting hybrids to carry over water and bunker. I elected to hit a 4 iron and draw it in to avoid the danger. Playing partners questioned if I could draw a 4 iron in and get it there. I was confident, stepped up and hit the exact shot I described. Saw it bounce once right at the pin and then the ball disappeared from view. We could not see the cup as it was below the ridge of the bunker. I jokingly said I'm pretty sure that's in the hole. As we approached in the cart, the ridge on the green from the right side guarded the view from part of the green leading up to the hoke and we couldn't see a ball. We began walking up and saw no ball was deep of the green. As the whole green came into view there was a visible divot 6 ft from the hole directly in line with tee box. Suspensefully I approached and peered in to see my Titleist ProV1 2 looking back at me! My coworkers (1 of which I knew well and the others I had just met) and I all began celebrating like we kids and had been friends for years.
Was a wonderful experience that I will be lucky to talk about for the rest of my life. How I planned a shot, executed the shot, and achieved the perfect outcome! Thanks Titleist!
