I am a young player in Southern California. I have a job and a career to support myself, but recently I have been playing golf quite well and have quite a bit of competitive experience as a junior player (I opted out of playing in the Big Ten conference when I attended college). However, at this point I am considering making the jump to playing at a somewhat more competitive level in my spare time. I guess my question would be: should I concentrate on reaching a higher level of play in strictly Amateur events, or declare my status and try to play occasionally on a mini-tour? Obviously my goal isn't to necessarily make a career out of it, but to have fun playing at a consistently competitive level. Thoughts? Suggestions?
