The PGA Tour announced that all (sort of) members will have to play a new tournament site they haven't been to within the last four years. Obviously the thought is to get more big names at tournaments that traditionally don't get big names. They say they have the support of the players. I think it will be interesting how players craft their schedules moving forward and if we'll get to the point where a player is playing a week he doesn't want to (like before a major) just to satisfy this requirement. Lifetime members (20 or more wins) and certain other players determined by status or age are to be excluded from the rule.
Personally, I like the rule and look forward to seeing players in tournaments they aren't generally part of. What I don't like is how the PGA Tour has set themselves up to exempt players from the rule as they see fit. And since the PGA Tour isn't exactly transparent, favoritism will rule.
Thoughts?
