    Since Viktor entered the PGA tour he has delighted us with his aggressive game style and his admirable demeanor during every golf round; however, what I saw on Monday's fourth round at Liberty National was absolutely appalling. He simply lost it and slamed his putter against his golf bag after he bogeyed the par-4 9th.

    On previous ocassions he had been able to control his emotions and bounce back during the round or in the following round. This time his frustation was triggered when he made a disastrous quadruple-bogey eight on the par-4 5th, and the bogey on the 9th was when he could not hold back his frustation anymore.

    Does this means that he cares more?

    Will he be able to bounce back next week?

    E.g., Masters 2001's triple-bogey on the 1st Quadruple bogey in the WGC-Workday Championship at The Concession

    To me its a one time thing and has been very level headed, also when Rahm does it they mark it down as "passion"

    It means he's human, every now & then it just builds and it has to explode.

    Never good in view of people or a public event, but that happens when you compete & have passion for what you do.

    Though I have never hit my bag, the club has dropped rather quickly once in a blue moon because of a constant down spiral of play during a round.

    Being a professional I am sure he will regain is mental ability to play well & be his personable self again.

    If slamming your putter against your bag is appalling, what do you call tearing up the putting green and digging up the bunker, a-la Sergio Garcia. Believe me, Viktor has joined a list of hundreds of tour pros who have slammed their putter against their bag. I'd like to have a dollar for every tour pro who snapped a club in half over their knee.

    Playing under the pressure that the pros play under, surely they cannot keep it bottled up inside forever. He is very passionate and competitive. Victor is a fine young man and is respectful of the game. No worries.

    What??? You mean these guys aren't the cool, calm collective cupcakes we were led to believe??? How dare they show any passion or competitiveness for wanting to win. If that dang caddie hadn't left the bag where he did, it would have never been noticed.
    I thought it was pretty funny when he whacked the bag. I was thinking "yeah, now you gotta go buy a new one" but then I remembered they don't pay for their clubs.

    He paid for his boo boo. Had to use his wedge to putt his way in and it cost him dearly. Made one putt and missed a number of shorts. He had bent the shaft on his putter when he hit his bag and he could not continue play with it. Lesson learned. The best teacher and the easiest way to gets a person's attention is thru their wallet. Fact.

    I totally agree with you, Chuck. I think he learned his lesson and this week (R1&2) his resilience will become his asset once again as it has been before. Hopefully, he will make it to East Lake.

    I boil up like anyone else but always remember just in time that a new scotty is £350 ( probably $4/500 in the US )
    That thought seems to take the heat out of the situation!!

    I totally agree with you, Geoff. I would definitely not break my old faithful $$$ :)
