Alright, so the start of the Masters is just a few days away and I've been waiting for this trip for what seems like a lifetime. The forecast is looking good, so I'm happy to be escaping the frigid Northeast - where yes it was snowing again this morning. It appears the 2011 winter is refusing to end.

I have a 4 a.m. wake-up call tomorrow, so the preparation starts tonight.  I just finished packing, making sure I have all of the gear I'll need for the weekend.

The clubs are cleaned and I'm looking forward to the first rounds of the season. I'm putting some new tools in the bag including the new Pro V1x, 910D3 (10.5*, C-1 SureFit Tour hosel setting, UST Mamiya ATTAS 6 stiff shaft), 910F (15*, D-4 SureFit Tour hosel setting, UST Mamiya ATTAS 7 stiff shaft) and a 910H (21*, A-1 SureFit Tour hosel setting, Project X HD-2 6.0 shaft).

Also making the trip with me, AP2 710 irons (4 - PW) with KBS Tour shafts, my quiver of Vokey WedgeWorks Exclusives TVD (52*, 56* and 60*) with KBS Tour Black Nickel shafts, and the trusty Scotty Cameron Studio Select Kombi S

The first tee time is at 1 p.m. tomorrow afternoon at Charlotte Golf Links in Charlotte, NC. Then it's 36-holes on Sunday and off to Augusta on Monday.

I'll be sending more updates along the way and posting pictures of the journey, so keep checking back.

In the meantime, here are some pics of my bag.

Clubs look great!  I'm sure that they will serve you well this weekend!

Be sure to get over to #16 on Monday and watch the "skip it" shots during the practice rounds.  It is a great spectacle to sit on the hillside to the left of the hole, or in the bleachers set up between the #15 and #16 greens.  Absolutely a place not to miss.

    Enjoy the trip!

    Mike,

I am pumped about Augusta as well. It looks like you get the better weather! I will be there Tuesday and there is a chance of rain. Here is my agenda on my journey to Augusta.

Sunday night- fly to my brother's in Atlanta and play on his golf simulator for awhile

Monday- 36 holes at Eagle's Landing Country Club (2010 Georgia Course of the Year)

Tuesday- Augusta practice round and taking a lot of pictures

Wednesday- another 36 at Eagle's Landing and fly home that evening.

Anybody ever played there? It is my brother's home course and I know the greens are pretty fast. I am looking forward to it. Will post pictures of Augusta when I get back!!

Eagles Landing is a pretty nice course. They keep it in good shape, and it's a decent layout. I just don't like the drive down there, and it's not close to really anything.

Enjoy your time playing and watching live golf.

The bag looks sick.  Nicely done.

    Mike,

The bag looks great. Those TVD wedges are jaw dropping! Just let me know if you need any more help/info. I wish you and your buddies the best. It's VERY beautiful down there. The scenery is unlike any other place on earth. You could have an HD LED high tech T.V. and it still doesn't compare to being there in person. I have some close friends who live in Augusta. Just be prepared for TONS of traffic jams...oh, and soak up the experience and tradition. You're NOT going to EVER forget this experience!

Hi Mike, An awesome set. Have a great week here in Augusta. I live a Titleist 910 and an AP2  9 iron from the main gate. Up and

down Washington Road, the annual "circus" is setting up nicely. Next door to me, 6 guys from Nike are renting for the week.

Wish they were Titleist people. Oh well, guess you can't have everything.

    Andy.

    Mike,

I was fortunate to experience Augusta in 2007. Greatest golf trip of my life. If I get another chance to return to Augusta I will buy a Masters chair inside the gate, set it up on Amen Corner (you can leave it there), go enjoy every hole on the course and then finish the day back at Amen Corner enjoying a beverage.

I know you will have great time. You feel the history when you walk in the gate.

Skip it shots sound awesome!  I've seen some pictures of it, tried it myself, but nothing like seeing the pros messing around somewhere as awesome as Augusta.  The bag looks good Mike.  Roll that Kombi ture!

Keep the pictures coming and let me know how that track in Charlotte is.  I have to go down there for work about 4 times a year and always love to sneak some rounds on the bent grass.

Mike - you should try Springfield if you are going to Charlotte Golf Links.  It is the same side of town, South, and only a few miles to the east in Ft Mill SC.  I live in the middle and play both, but by far more often at Springfield.
