  1. I have SM9 wedges and want to get fit for wedges again and also get them in the new Oil Can finish. I know I could go with my current wedges 54.12D and 60.08M and have a known update. I also want to try the gap wedge 48.10F to compare to my T150 48º gap wedge.

I also would like to try the 60.06K grind to see if that might work better for me than the M. I am a sweeper and struggle at times with the M by fatting it. If I have enough turf under the ball it is great, but if it is at all tight I drop back to chipping with the 54º

I know - then go get fit. Right, I have a fitting set up for March 14 Originally the oil cans were going to go to preorder on the 16th and I thought that was perfect. Then I find out they are available for preorder now. I contacted the fitter and he can not hold any wedges and he has no idea on current stock, and unless he has a crystal ball knowing their stock would not tell him how long that stock would last

Titleist - this totally sucks. Here are my choices: 1) Wait for the fitting and risk not being able to get the wedges in oil can 2) Take a shot and order them now - I am super confident in the 48.10F and the 54.12D, but the lob wedge is a question. I could just roll the dice and order one of the two options (a $250 dice roll) 3) Some combo of 1 and 2

This is a bummer since I wanted to really do the fitting and see where things landed. I am not sure what Titleist could do, but they could do a hold of a few head for people that have a fitting scheduled and request it. I would even commit to buying three heads, I just want them to be properly fit.

    End of whining rant :)

Most places have a 30 day return policy. Buy both lob wedges and then return the one that least fits your needs.

There will be no immediate shortage of oil can wedges. You should have no problem getting any loft of grind you need well through the summer.
  4. You may wish to cosider the 60T grind in addition to the 60K if you are a sweeper. The L grind is also a candidate.

Most better players, according to Bob Vokey, have gravitated towards the T grind but every wedge is personal as you know.

Honestly, while I typically encourage people to buy through local pro shops/small shops, I'd just pre-order any wedge you think you might need (which, from your post, sounds like 4 wedges) and buy them from a big box store with a return policy (for example, looks like PGA Tour Superstore has them for pre-order and has this police). I'm in Canada, and Golf Town up here has a 30-day return policy as long as the items are unused (I've even done it with limited Scotty Cameron drops in the past). I appreciate it's a sizeable up-front investment, but I guess my take on that is that:

    a) If you put it on a credit card, you'll have 30 days to return and take it off the CC bill; and

    b) Ultimately it's a luxury (purely a cosmetic upgrade) product and that's the risk you run in sleeping on limited releases (from 15 years of stressing over Club Cameron releases)

Sorry if this seems harsh - that's not my intention. I just think this it pretty much the only way you're going to be able to guarantee you'll get what you want once the fitting is done.

Good luck with the fitting and I hope you get what you're looking for!

While the oil can finish is nice, it should not be the thing that determines when you get your wedges. Go to the fitting and get the right grind, bounce and loft for your swing. If the oil can finish is available, get it. If not, think about why you want the oil can. Personally, I prefer the black finish. On a sunny day, they offer a finish that does not reflect a lot of light. I have played raw and oil can in the past. Rust offers ZERO extra spin! I will also say that with the amount I play and practice I use 3 sets of wedges a year, oil can would get to be pretty expensive.

Good luck with your choices. I am sure the one you make will be the right one. Me I always go with a fitting to ensure I get the right shaft.

You should be good getting the oil can finish after your fitting.
