    Hi all,

Can some body tell me how you can increase your clubhead speed? I'm swinging it comfortable 98-100 mph. If I push I can get to 107 mph but not comfortable with hitting it like this on the course.

How can I increase so I can hit the driver a few yards more which is so much needed to get lower scores.

    Thanks!!!

    Hi Pieter-Maarten

I would not worry too much about increased clubhead speed and a few extra yards. Keep the swing comfortable and keep the ball on the fairway.

Playing off the short stuff is the best way to lower scores. Remember, its not how far you hit the ball but how close.

    Cheers

    Graeme.

Hi Graeme, thanks for your answer but to get lower scores you also need to get longer. I agree that keeping it in the faiway is a must but when you do this regular you want to play more GIR and that is easier when you hit a 7 into the green than a 5 or 4.

So I stay with my q how to increase the clubhead speed!

Don't over swing. Concentrate on the impact with your natural swing speed.

If you keep your rhythm, the yards will come!

If you don't have a golf-centric trainer available, on-line resources include is the Titleist Performance Institute.  Strength helps, but speed drills to increase your tempo is your goal .  Most of us guys tend to focus on upper body strength and not as much as core.  If  misses tend to be hooks, find a tempo that is not over-swinging arms.

Use a smaller headed driver too. I switched to the D3 for this very reason. Felt I was swinging a barn door with a 460CC head.

Thanks Paul. I will certainly try the D3. Unfortunately the golf fitting in the Netherlands is not as good as you can get in the US or UK. But I'll certainly will give it a try.
