I have recently upgraded to the SM 7 wedges after purchasing a set of AP3 irons. I only changed due to the gaps between my previous wedges and the PW being much stronger. The weather has not been great over the last month or so, and the course has been wet so the wedges were just stopping dead. This week it was different, the greens had firmed up enough to really test the wedges. I could not believe the amount of spin I was able to get, even with half shots. Although I am still getting to grips with the yardages, I can see that this spring I should be dialing in yardages perfectly with these SM 7 wedges.

Agreed, they certainly seem to spin well. I have 52, 56 and 60 and they all produce a good level of controllable spin.
  3. I'm glad to see you're enjoying the benefits of fresh groove wedges! It makes such a big difference on your approach shot control.

We've got an interesting video produced at our Manchester Lane facility in the US which might be of interest to you...www.vokey.com/.../spin-performance.aspx

Very interesting hadn’t changed my wedges for well over a year before buying 2 x SM7’s tho I think I didn’t get the right 58 degree wedge, I’m in 2 minds over the S and M grind. I understand what both grinds do but it’s just a little thing bugging me and keeps me wondering lol

Thanks Luke, great video very informative. I was suprised by the results.

So far, The SM 7 wedges are definitely the best wedges I used and that included SM 4, 5 and 6.

I changed to SM7's from cally last year and found much more spin and control on half shots and pitches. I'd never had Vokey wedges before but I'm definitely a convert.

    Peter,

I'm also a convert to Vokeys after my SM7 fitting at Woburn last February. I was a Cleveland RTX user before and the Vokey fitting gave me completely different bounce and of course the grinds make a BIG difference.

Before I rarely hit full shots with 52 and 56 and now I'm so much more confident at these distances and of course opening the face for those creative shots around the green.

Ant; I was there that day too, the options really opened my eyes and like you, I came away with very different bounce options than I'd previously been choosing.

    Good to hear!!
I am currently looking at purchasing a 54 and 60 but want to get them customized, has anyone gone through this process and can recommend the best site to purchase from?

I love my Sm5’s but I think it might be time to upgrade. The black heads look super stealth! #TT4Life

I upgraded to sm7 a couple of months ago and I love them, I keep telling all the mates about them.
I too was blown away by the amount of spin these clubs generate
  12. Got the 50* SM7 to fill the gap between 718 AP2 PW & wedges, as the new PW was a good few degrees more powerfully lofted than my previous AP2.
Now I'm wondering about the 54* & 60* - Should I take the plunge and move up to SM7 now???
Should I go for 56* & 62* (I do like a high lofted lob wedge - Would go 64* if Bob made one!) ???
Or should I wait for SM8???
That's the trouble with rainy days - Lots of thinking time...

Love the SM7’s feel a bit heavier than the 6’s but that may be just the way I get the feel from them.
