  1. The problem with living just over an hour from my club is that it’s a long drive to discover golf has been cancelled - no medal today so I had a lonely time on an empty range followed by 9 holes.

My question is who has the longest commute to their regular club?

  2. Think I might have one of the shortest , I can walk it if needs be to my home club. But have away membership else where and its 20mins drive

    25 minute drive for me.
  4. Don't drive and because of covid I won't car share at present so since coming out of shielding at the beginning of August it's been a nine mile round trip on the hoof. Three to four times a week. Luckily I have a locker. First away day tomorrow additional three mile each way with bag on the shoulders from my club.
All for the love of the game.
  5. I can get the train (and do sometimes) but only every 30 mins and takes 1hr 15 plus 10 mins walk to the station and 20 from the station- a lot more painful now that I have to carry my clubs as can’t use my locker at the club.

The things we do for golf!

I had an similarly frustrating Thursday...
Had arranged a 10 o'clock 4 ball at my club with three mates of 40 years standing, who I go golfing abroad with twice a year. My club is only 12 mins from home (according to GMaps) however, a deluge overnight closed the course with 10 o'clock inspection. It was agreed that we would go to the club of one of the others. This was 45 mins away, through the tunnel and one of the others had already left home and wasn't aware of the change. Went up to my club and in fairness, the 18th green was awash.... Cancelled our booking and picked up the missing element of our 4 ball, who followed me to the rearranged course. The tee was empty but the pro made us wait to allow the 4 in front to go off (late!) The 4 subsequently split into 2 x 2 balls (I've never seen that before!) so we were again delayed and to add to the pressure, the 2 ball behind closed up while we waited. The weather was all four seasons in four hours and the course very wet and playing long. If I hadn't found half a dozen balls while looking for someone else's ball, I'd have been quite glum.
To finish me off, it seems my course was inspected early and opened at 10 o'clock - we'd have had an empty course in front of us... Oh well, the result of being too cautious.

Only a 20 min drive for me. Must say that’s dedication to be driving a hour there a S then back for a range session! Hats off to you air.
