So i just got back from a fitting for the TSI Driver and fairways wood - firstly thanks Luke at Team Titleist for offering the opportunity to get fit on the first day on general release and also thanks to Dan Fiend - the fitter at St Ives. He has fit me for irons before but he is just great guy and amazing fitter, cant recommend enough after being fit for lots of clubs.
Background: I am an 8 hcp with a 110mph driver swing speed. I am a real equipment tinker especially with shafts :-)) My current gamers are a TS3 9.5 degree - set A1, 45 inches longer with a Fujikura Ventus Velocore blue 6X
I got fit into the TSi3 as i am a high launch, high spin player. The TSi3 looks amazing at address - i loved the new face design and when looking down it made the club look like it had more loft and give great alignment. I would say it launches a little higher than TS3 but is also a lot more stable on of centre hits. The sound of TSi3 was slightly different which i preferred - a bit more muted, but still the titanium noise which i love (never quite got the love of the carbon sound)
The MASSIVE gain in TSi3 was the reduced spin - 400 to 500 RPM. This was great as previously i have had to use very boardie heavy shafts to reduce spin, but with TSi3 i was able to use some shafts that felt alot better.
The stock shafts are great but also the 'premium' shaft from graphite design. Always loved the AD-DI.
In the fairway wood (3 wood for me) I think the face again stands out for the design. It make the club so much more easier to align. Overall the club looked amazing (both TSi2 and TSi3) and again saw a gain in ball speed and launch (coming from the 917)
Overall I think i gained 13yrd on the driver (still 45 inch shaft) due to increased ball speed, being able to go down in loft and the reduce spin. I was not expecting that going as the gains are so small these days with the quality of drivers.
I was so impressed with the new drivers - i really think they have knocked it out of the park.
Thanks again Titleist - now time to save up!
