    Played today. It was a chilly 6* on the Irish Sea coast of England. No sun at all. No blue in the sky. Our 3-ball all had a minimum of 3 tops on and waterproof over-trousers on top of winter weight pants. Hats (including trapper style golf caps and bobblers) and gloves/mittens were the order of the day. So how come there were several blokes out in SHORTS??? I appreciate that: - Skin is cheap... Shorts avoid muddy turn-ups... "Sweating your Assets" is economically efficient... and it allows you to show off your pins (not a benefit I observed today).... But WHY?? - Why Shorts in the UK in Winter?? Can anyone explain?? JT

    some people don't feel the cold as much or just didn't figure the weather would be that bad can't do much about it when you get to the course ‍♂️

    There are some that believe golf must be played in shorts or no sense no feelings.

    im a postman and wear shorts all year round, at work and on the course. if the rain is lashing i will stick on my waterproofs whilst on the course.

    Realise you are south of me and it might be slightly warmer, but don't you feel the cold anymore?

    winter i like to carry to keep the blood pumping and slightly warmer but some days i question my sanity...

    At least one of them was a builder.... Not sure if it's relevant but he's a fervent "Blue Nose" (ie Evertonian)

    At least he supports the Best team on Merseyside lol, but I’ve been layered up and still see lads on the course in shorts. They mustn’t feel the cold.

    There’s a few at my club who wear shorts all the time and they too just say they don’t feel the cold. I have to say though that they look cold to me!
    Personally, I never wear shorts even in hot weather preferring to keep covered up.

    We have an old boy who plays in the four ball in front of us and he wears shorts and short sleeve shirts right up until November, when you see him in long trousers you know it’s a cold day,

    Yeah, I'm more inclined to expose my pale and stubby legs if I'm abroad... where nobody knows me!!!

    I had a teacher who wore rhino rugby shorts everyday even in the snow days top bloke but crazy haha guess some people feel the cold less

    Strange how Sports/Games/PE teachers (not sure of the current nomenclature!) do that sort of thing... and have a secondary subject of RE/Religion/Scripture!
