  1. Hi all,

Last night brought some fantastic news across the board; the light at the end of the tunnel (hopefully) and a sudden realisation that there’s a chance we won’t be as sharp around the greens come 29th March. Guaranteed I’ll still sign up for the comp that’s put on that day though

Is there a way of finding out what last nights announcement means for the fitting centre in St. Ives? I’ve booked a fitting for the 10th April and not sure how the phased lockdown lift is likely to affect this. Boris did try to explain, but he lost me...

Anyway, hope everyone is keeping safe, and is feeling more positive at the prospect of getting outdoors playing the sport we love

    Cheers, Stephen

  2. Very excited that we have a confirmed date to play again but not looking forward to the battle to get tee times in the first weeks back!

Did it say when driving ranges re-open?
  3. Don’t think they specified - hoping before 29th if safe to do so Like JT said, there’s going to be a need for a couple of sessions before getting back out there!

As far as I'm aware they didn't specify exactly when Driving Ranges would open...
I'm on the circulation for my range so I am fully expecting an email soon.
However, my range is in Wales so it will probably be in a different timeframe from England due to politics rather than the pandemic!

  5. Stephen,
Love your gung-ho attitude.... Enjoy yourself
Think I'll need a couple or maybe three or four sessions on the range before I go losing AVX's on the course!!
My club has already sent round an email telling us we can't book on BRS or HDID until we are told that the lists are open.

From what i have seen it depends if the range is classed as indoor or outdoor sports facility - there is a review on the 24th to work though the government guidelines:

The All Party Parliamentary Group for Golf will discuss the announcement at a meeting on Wednesday (February 24th) “to consider the impact of the statement on the sport in England, and the full details are now being reviewed by the industry bodies, specifically the impact of the different levels on different aspects of golf including playing, coaching, retail, and club fitting, as well the implications for driving ranges and practice facilities.”

Sure to be a rush for bookings. Hope to get out and play as much as possible in the 2 months before subs are due!

Just booked a driver/fairway fitting on 29th March.

Thought it best to do that rather than buy blind.

Want to test out the TSI4 driver especially to knock some spin off where I can. The TXG video comparing against the TSI3 was mind boggling
  9. Has this been confirmed by the National Fitting Centre at St Ives yet? Keen to know when fittings will be allowed again...
  10. Hi Simon,

It hasn’t from what I can see on the forum. However, I’ve dropped an email directly to St. Ives so will keep you updated (with hopefully some good news).

    Stephen
  11. Thank you Stephen! I’ve tried calling them a number of times with no success, and I’ve been looking for an email address but couldn’t find one - I’m glad you succeeded where I failed! I look forward to you hearing back - thanks again!
  12. Has anyone had confirmation from St Ives re when they will be open again?

    @TT - do you know?

(@SHockey - did you hear back from St Ives? (Sorry don’t mean to chase....!))

  13. Hi Simon,

Sorry for the delayed reply. I haven’t heard anything I’m afraid. Assuming they must be inundated with similar queries. My plan is to turn up on 10th based on the local driving ranges being reopened today, irrespective of the indoor/outdoor debate.

  14. Well not quite as expected- having low expectations, I just missed a birdie on the first! Annoyingly that raised expectations that were definitely not met in most of the round.

Irrespective of some average golf, great to be out there.

Also pleased with the new bag but gutted that my TT tag can’t be attached since it was stolen before lockdown.

  15. Looks awesome AJP - where is it you play?

I really can’t wait to get back out there this week!
