Whilst I couldn’t make it to my home town for Xmas, my partner and our 16 year old son headed there on Boxing Day. On Monday evening, it resulted in me, my brother, my son, my niece’s boyfriend and my two nephews going to the range. I play off 9 and the younger 13 year old doesn’t really play but has had a few lessons over the last 12 months and has been given some clubs.
Whilst in my view total distance matters, to my family apparently carry rules the day, so whilst I had equalled my 13 year old nephews 210 yard carry with my brother’s 917 three wood, I was rather keen to beat it - I must point out I didn’t have my clubs so was using his and my brother’s. I picked up his Wilson three wood and gave it a pretty fair whack - slightly odd noise and the clubhead had sheered from the shaft - oops!
If you can’t beat them, break their clubs!
I made the nephew hold his club in the photo so history may think he did it.
