Which Golf do you find best Summer or winter Golf

Given the warm weather it’s been great getting distance but then having to club down which is taking some getting use to how do you all find and it and which do you prefer

  2. It has to be summer.

Wearing and carrying less gear is a given and the light is better and lasts longer.

    Greens run faster and true.

I think it’s more fun to have to think through more options - in winter you wouldn’t consider a 50 yard bump and run but in summer it’s a viable option. Working out where to land balls, making different choices off the tee and fairway give us variety you just don’t get in winter.

And of course, the ego is massively boosted by the drive that just keeps rolling…..
  3. A lot depends on if you can play in the winter

My last course I was a member of in the UK was open all year round and very rarely used temporary greens

As you say the ball doesn't go as far in the winter but it is the same for everyone

I’m a big fan of both to be honest. The summer months with longer light is always a joy as you can get 9 holes in after work.

Again greens tend to roll a lot better and the drives look super Long !

Tho in Winter I quite like the wet fairways in the early morning. My only downfall on winter is the rain mid round. Nothing worse than getting soaked and your gear is ringing wet.

As all of you may agree just being able to get out and play in any season is a joy!

I really like both for different reasons. Summer is more competitive and in winter we tend to have a little bit more fun with the shorter course and no so long rough. Hate the rain in both though.

Has to be summer. I just love the long evening and short sleeves.
Just give so much to getting out and playing.

Summer for me, and when it's really warm I prefer a nice and early tee time so I can get round in under 3 hours and enjoy the greens at their best. Looking forward to a game this Saturday, will be breaking out a fresh Pro V1 and a new glove - nothing better!
  8. No preference, there are elements of each that are appealing.
I'd be hard pressed to choose between a hot soup on a crisp winter day and a cold beer on a warm summer evening.
Basically, I'm just grateful to get out and play....
