Should I go with a SM5 58.07 S or bend a SM5 56.10 S to a 58.12?

  1. I have one of the old spin milled wedges in 58.12 that has the S grind profile and love it, but this year I was informed that the tournaments that I play in implemented the new groove rule.  I've been using the SM4 56.09 until the SM5 came out, but I don't feel like that wedge has enough bounce.  Should I stick with the high bounce or is the SM5 made to use a lower bounce?

    Bryan-
It sounds like you might be a good candidate for the higher bounce option. We can definitely bend a 56-10S either 1° or 2° weak depending on the finish (1° for Tour Chrome and Gold Nickel; 2° for Raw Black). Keep in mind that, in addition to adding bounce, bending the loft weak will also decrease the offset of the wedge.

In case you missed it, we recently wrote about a similar adjustment to Titleist Brand Ambassador Scott Stalling's new SM5 wedges. Click here to read about the wedges he put into play prior to winning the Farmers Insurance Open in January. And be sure to let us know if you have any other questions.
