I need to replace my old Vokey wedges (52.08 and 58.10). The new SM5 have different grinds to choose from. Unfortunately I do not have a place to go to be fitted (small town in SC). Even if I had the opportunity aim not sure if I understand grind clear to make a sensible choice. What SM5 matches the best to my current wedges in terms of the new grind definitions? Thanks for any and all thoughts/suggestions. I can't carry many different wedges when I travel plus I may not know course conditions before I play.

    Hi Jim,

    Thanks for the question.

If you like your current 52.08, I would get the 52.08 in the new SM5. Both with have the F grind with similar performance.  As for a 58, we currently offer a low bounce 58.04, ideal for sliders and individuals playing in firm conditions.  We offer mid bounce 58.07 (S grind) ideal for neutral swingers who like to hit chips and shots with a square face.  The 58.08 (M grind) is ideal for individuals looking to hit shots by adjusting the face.  Finally, the 58.11 (K) is a high bounce option ideal for all types of golfers, especially diggers.

Take note of the conditions you typically play in and what your typical miss is and make a decision based off that.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks Bubba,

Unfortunately local playing conditions are all different.  I also open or square the club face depending on the distance and other considerations, i.e. less roll, etc.

Would the 56.10 S be more flexible for varying conditions and other than loft be closer to my current 58.10?

    Jim,

Is your current 58.10 an SM4?

    Thanks
