I am looking at a new set of wedges, 52, 56 and 60 degree lofts. I am confused by all the new grinds and the various numbers assigned to them.  I take very little and shallow divots, but sometimes chunk the ball on shots under 15 yards and am a 7 handicap. Do I get different grinds for each club? I have gone several times to be fitted at local retailers, but each suggests a different set up. Thanks.

    Hi Frank,

    Thanks for the question.

When it comes to finding the right grinds and bounces for each wedge, you need to look at the type of shots you play with each club and what your typical miss is.

52: If you play in soft conditions and have tendency to miss it fat or take big divots, I would suggest the 52.12. If you play in firmer conditions or miss it thin and take shallow divots, 52.08.

56: 56.14 is designed for diggers and individuals that play in soft, wet conditions. The 56.10 (S) is for individuals who like to play full shots and pitch shots with more of a square face and the 56.10 (M) is for individuals who like to open the face.

60: The 60.04 (L) is for sliders and individuals playing in firm conditions. The 60.07 (S) and 60.08 (M) have similar designs and functions as the 56 S and M, only more loft. And finally, the 60.11 K is designed with a larger sole and more bounce for forgiveness for individuals who miss it heavy and play in soft conditions. However, it is a very versatile grind.

I would suggest playing a couple rounds or going to the local chipping green and pay attention to your misses. Compare those notes with the function of each grind and bounce.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.

    Hi James,

    Thanks for the question.

The main difference between the TVD line and the stock SM5 line is looks. I have attached a link to a previous discussion that contains great pictures of the difference between the two (http://www.titleist.com/teamtitleist/team-titleist/f/299/t/25210.aspx). As well, the finishes are different on the TVD wedges Vs SM5. As far as playability, the M and K grinds in both lines perform very similar.

In summation, both lines are fantastic, it is really a matter of which one fits your eye.

Please let know if you have any further questions.
