  1. I am in the market for new wedges and am trying to figure out the right set up for me.  I am tall (6'4") and steep and hit my current wedges on the fat side.  I would like more full swing distance from the 52* wedge and will use the 58* from sand and tighter lies.

I am looking at a 52* with 12* of bounce and 58* with 4* of bounce.  Both +1" and 1 or 2* flat.  I play in normal conditions in Pennsylvania and am a 10 handicap.  My Irons are png i20 +1" white dot.

Would love to hear thoughts on the wedge set up

    Thanks

    Hi Scott,

    Thanks for the post.

As you likely know, it is always best to see a local fitter first and try the different wedges. With that said, what you are describing sounds like an ideal setup for your wedge set. If you are steep on the ball and typically catch the ball fat, more bounce would certainly be beneficial on your 52 degree. As for the 58, don't simply look at the typical bunker conditions you play in, consider how you strike the ball. Many times, individuals who catch the ball heavy benefit from more bounce in all conditions.

Hope this gives you some direction. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Bubba

  3. Thanks Bubba.

Are you ok with +1' length = 2* flat to get the toe down a bit?

Any public demo days in suburban Philly coming up in April or May?

    I appreciate your response

  4. Bubba,

I know exactly what kind of wedge sole that I need, in terms of fitting for a grind of a wedge... Titleist use to offer the specific sole grind I do not have the model number off the top of my head but I actually own one of the wedges.   I was interested in getting the exact same sole grind on a new SM wedge, and my question is will you or do you do custom grinds on your wedges?  Is that even possible??  Or would I have to buy a wedge, grind and balance it myself?  I was just curious, because I KNOW that is the wedge for me and I would love to play competitively with the one I have, but ... it doesn't have conforming grooves.

Any help or information on the subject will be greatly appreciated!!

  5. If you are steep and your miss is flat I'd stay away from the 4* of bounce in the 58. If you're looking for versatility the m grind (8* of bounce) is quite similar to the L grind (4* bounce) and should provide a little extra forgiveness for the steep fat miss.
