Is there a pattern to the lettering? I know they are different, but I can't tell what the pattern is. Were they named for different players? Also, which tour pros play which grinds?
Hi Marc,
I understand that the letters of the various grinds in the SM5 series all correspond to a different professional. I believe the S - Grind is in reference to Steve Stricker. I cannot recall the other letters - Tour pro's, and I may stand to be corrected.

I found the following on the TT Website ... an interview with Bob Vokey:
TT: Which sole grind is the most popular and which is your personal favorite?
BV: Well, the S grind which came from my work with Steve Stricker, that’s been extremely popular on the 60.07 and 58.09 models. It just fits a lot of players. My favorite is probably the M grind, because that was the one that started it all.

I cannot recall the other player(s) involved in the other grinds were/are.

The V grind might stand for Vokey since this is Bob's additional favorite grind however what does the E grind stand for?? I forgot to ask Voke this the last time we were together! Maybe E stands for "Extraordinary"? LOL

I believe the M stands for Most, as in most requested by tour players.

Hey, Darrin. We actually got a chance to sit down and interview Mr. Vokey recently and later this week we'll be posting an article to share his answers to many wedge and short game related questions.
As a small preview, I can let you know that we did discuss grinds and Bob told us that the "M" in M Grind does stand for "MOST", but specifically, "MOST FAVORITE", as it's his personal favorite grind.
Keep an eye out later this week for more from the Voke!
Thanks!
