  1. hey guys,

I am 6'5 and currently play irons with shafts that are 2 inches longer than standard. I am looking to upgrade my wedges and I'm unsure as to shaft lengths in relation to these. I know the rule of thumb is that your wedges should be the same length as the pitching wedge in your irons, but i feel like i have more control with slightly shorter wedges. Do you think by having standard length wedge shafts I will experience issues in my yardage gaps? Also it is cheaper and more convenient to buy stock length wedges so this may play a role in my decision.

    Cheers

SM5 wedges with any standard price shaft will be the same price as the stock wedges at stock length and "wedge shaft" (DG 200?). Most pro shops will fit you on course and reduce/eliminate the fitting charge if you order from them. If the parts are in stock at Titleist, it is 7-10 business days for the order to arrive. From my fitting, my irons are stock length, and my 48/52/56 wedges are 1/2 shorter than std. With a steeper angle, I was consistently just missing compressing the ball and hitting turf first. Just noting the value of a wedge fitting - I was using all stock wedges when I was my fitter.
