  1. Hi, I really like my old wedges (588 rtx) I was planning on changing to the Raw black sm5 vokey, I thought it was a good idea to try them but I wanted you to tell me what you think.

I think that your making the right decision, however, I feel that you should try them out next to each other and pick the one that performs better. (Now, how do you define performance) You should be able to hit high lobs, low spinners, and medium height chips with all you wedges > 50 deg of loft: try all three of those and compare, other factor is the look of the club behind the ball-- that inspires confidence or lack of) I love the SM5s, very clean sharp look. The Vokey wedge really is a must have tool in your bag.

    Good decision to upgrade.

But like always when purchasing new titleist equipment you should try before you buy to ensure you are getting what is suited to your swing/game.

You can't beat the SM5's though!

You've made the right choice, but like others have said, try them if you can.  I know I went with a different bounce on each of my wedges after trying them at a demo day.

I recently made the switch from the RTX 2.0 to the SM5s. The RTX spin very well and I enjoy that aspect, however, I recently hit a snag with them... Literally snag...

My chipping style is to get the ball on the green and running as soon as possible, when possible. I hate putting from off the green (except in Scotland.) To do this, I de-loft my wedges with my hands well in front, a double finger overlap and to drag the club head through the ball. I don't think of it like making a putting stroke, mostly because my putting stroke is left-hand-low.

Well, the RTX wedges have a very sharp leading edge... causing me to snag that sharp leading edge in the GA bermuda.

I bought 1 SM5 wedge first. One reason was to replace the PW I had in my last set of irons with something I could chip with (the face was too hot for chipping). Another reason was to really experiment with the noticeably more rounded leading edge.

The difference with my chipping stroke through the bermuda and softer conditions (lots of rain) is nearly night and day... Some has 4 new wedges instead of just one...

Needless to say, I am very happy with these SM5s, even with the SM6s just released.
