  1. Hi all, I'm a little confused with the sm5 we've options, no surprises there! I play in the UK where as we know have varied playing conditions and hence ground conditions. I'm a bit of a digger, playing in varying ground conditions, can anyone advise on setup and wedge selection. My PW is 46 degrees, not sure if I need 50, 54, 58 or 52, 56 and 60.

    Any help will be welcome,

    Regards,

    Rob

The key is getting your distance gaps correct. I believe most go with wedges that don't have enough bounce. As a general rule, wedge lofts need to have gaps of 4 degrees and since you have a 46* PW, I would recommend a 50*, 54* and 58*. This is actually my current setup. The most important advice I can offer is getting a wedge fitting. Find a certified Titleist fitter and get some help. A wedge fitting is the most valuable thing I've could have ever done for my game. It made a night and day difference in my wedge play. I always thought it was me but I simply wasn't playing wedges that fit my swing or game. Best of luck.
  3. The most important thing in wedges is that you have an equal amount of wedge gap when speaking towards the loft of the wedge. Most people go with a 4 degree difference in loft; so for example you have a 46 degree which means that you would go 46, 50, 54, 58 ect... Lots of players like to only have 3 wedges as well, and you could also (if you feel like your distance control on full shots is good) go in wedge gaps of 6 degree's (46, 52, 58). As for the bounce of the wedge you said you tend to dig more than sweep, and more bounce on a wedge could help the consistency of your wedges (by having more bounce you allow the club to dig less into the ground at impact). The K grind is a great bounce for the higher lofted clubs and could also benefit the "digger" type of wedge player. Also if you are looking for SM5 wedges right now you should wait a little bit till the SM6 wedges come out!

More concerned over the grind options. I don't think the amateur should get too caught up in all the options, but on the other hand there are some choices. Regarding the course conditions...lets be real, they change. I want a versitle club, so I'm thinking the m grind. I feel there are more possibilities comments?
